It seems Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi may have the ‘pick of the litter’ ahead of the 2018/19 English Premier League season with several clubs chasing the West Brom defender’s signature.

It is reported that both Newcastle and Brighton are looking to bring Hegazi on board before the transfer window closes as they take advantage of his release clause at West Brom.

Hegazi was a star performer for West Brom in the English Premier League last season, playing in all 38 games, and the Hawthorns will be fighting hard to keep him on board.

However, their relegation to the Championship coupled with his bargain fee makes his move to another club only a matter of time.

According to sources at the club the Egyptian has a release clause in the region of £10 million which has seen both Newcastle and Brighton come calling as they look ready to trigger the release clause.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is in the market for defensive reinforcements after losing Florian Lejeune for a large chunk of next season with a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in preseason.

Brighton, on the other hand, despite having been busy in the transfer window, coach Chris Hughton is still looking to bring in a new centre-back to bolster his squad.

This is not the first time Hegazi has been ‘hot property’ with clubs like Tottenham, West Ham United and Leicester City reportedly chasing his signature back in May.
