Leicester City on Sunday evening announced the signing of Algerian international Rachid Ghezzal.

The 26-year-old joined the English Premier League club from AS Monaco for an undisclosed fee, following a season in which he scored two goals in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Ghezzal is seen as a direct replacement for fellow countryman Riyad Mahrez who left the Foxes for Manchester City last month.

“I’m very excited and very happy to be here. I know the coach from Lyon and this is where I want to be,” Ghezzal told LCFC TV.

“It’s a good Club and an ambitious one too. Leicester City has many great players and I hope we will have a great season.”

Ghezzal, who made over 100 appearances for French Ligue 1 side Lyon, rekindles his relationship with head coach Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium. The winger progressed through the club’s youth ranks when Puel was in charge of the club from 2008-2011.
