Victor Moses has sent a stern warning to Argentina ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, with the two nations to go head-to-head at a world showpiece for the fifth time in the past 24 years.
The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group D alongside Iceland, Croatia and La Albiceleste who they will meet in Saint Petersburg.
Argentina claimed narrow World Cup wins over their counterparts in 1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014 with the South Americans going on to reach the final in Brazil having defeated the three-time African champions 3-2 in the group stages.
Moses, though, is confident that Nigeria can cause an upset next year with the West Africans having defeated their counterparts 4-2 in a friendly encounter last month.
“We keep getting Argentina for some reason,” Moses told Mirror Online.
“We don’t want to play against [Lionel] Messi, but it is what it is. We’ve got to go and play our football and see what happens.
The 26-year-old added: “After what Iceland did last year [beating England in the last 16 of the European Championship], football nowadays, there’s no easy game.
“Argentina are going to be scared of us as well.
“It’s all about football at the end of the day,” the Chelsea utility player concluded
