News landing through to AfricanFootball.com is that Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek have appointed a new coach in Christian Gross.

The White Knights announced the appointment of the Swiss coach on Tuesday ahead of the 2018/19 EPL season.

Following months of rumours and speculation, it has been announced on Zamalek’s official website that the 63-year-old agreed on signing a contract to become the new coach and will be at the helm of the squad at their camp in Germany.

Although the club appointed Gross as the club’s manager in April, they later reversed their decision few days later.

Gross will succeed current manager Khaled Galal and will have four assistants at the White Castle, a general manager, a performance analyst, a goalkeeping coach and a fitness trainer.

The club’s president Mortada Mansour announced that chairman of Saudi’s General Authority of Sport Turki Al-Sheikh has provided the club with financial support to help them land the new coach.

KingFut reports that El-Sheikh, the former honorary president of Zamalek’s arch rivals Al Ahly, has recently acquired EPL side Assiouty Sport and renamed it Pyramids FC.

The Swiss mastermind enjoyed two successful long spells at his home country, winning two Swiss Super Leagues with Grasshopper and four with FC Basel.

Gross also had short stints in the English Premier League and the German Bundesliga with Tottenham Hotspur and VFB Stuttgart.
